Roopa Ganguly

Roopa Ganguly, born on November 25, 1966, is a distinguished Indian actress, politician, and playback singer, celebrated for her remarkable contributions to both television and cinema. She gained prominence in the 1980s as one of the highest-paid television actresses in India, particularly known for her iconic portrayal of Draupadi in B R Chopra's acclaimed series Mahabharat. Her versatility and ability to adapt her accent have often drawn comparisons to Bollywood's Shabana Azmi.

Ganguly's career began with Bijoy Chatterjee's Hindi telefilm Nirupama in 1986, but it was her role in the Bengali TV series Muktabandha that marked her breakthrough. She achieved national fame with her performance in Ganadevta and solidified her status as a household name through her role in Mahabharat, which aired from 1988 to 1990. She later reprised her role in Mahabharat Katha and appeared in several other popular series, including Kanoon, Chandrakanta, and Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo.
