Roy D. Bridges Jr.

Roy Dubard Bridges Jr. is a distinguished American pilot and engineer, born on July 19, 1943. With a remarkable career as a military officer and NASA astronaut, he has made significant contributions to aviation and space exploration.

Bridges served as a command pilot, amassing over four thousand four hundred sixty flying hours. His military service is particularly notable for his role as a decorated veteran, having completed two hundred sixty-two combat missions during the Vietnam War. His dedication and skill led to his retirement as a major general in the United States Air Force.

In addition to his military achievements, Bridges held prominent positions within NASA, including the directorship of both the John F. Kennedy Space Center and Langley Research Center. His final role before retirement was as the Director of Requirements at Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, where he served until June nineteen ninety-three.
