Roy Sætre Khantatat, known professionally as Roy Khan, was born on March 12, 1970, in Norway. He is a multifaceted musician, recognized for his talents as a singer, songwriter, keyboardist, guitarist, and string player. Khan's musical journey began to gain prominence when he became the lead vocalist for the progressive metal band Conception, where he showcased his powerful voice and songwriting skills.
In 1997, Khan transitioned to the American power metal scene as the lead singer for Kamelot. During his fourteen-year tenure with the band, he co-wrote a significant portion of their music alongside guitarist and founder Thomas Youngblood. His contributions helped shape Kamelot's distinctive sound, earning them a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim.
After departing from Kamelot in 2011, Khan took a hiatus from the music industry, during which he focused on personal endeavors. However, in 2018, he made a triumphant return by releasing a new solo song on YouTube and announcing the revival of Conception, much to the delight of his fans.
