Roy Thomas

Roy William Thomas Jr., born on November 22, 1940, is a prominent figure in the American comic book industry, renowned for his multifaceted roles as a writer, editor, and screenwriter. He made history as Stan Lee's first successor as editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the direction of the company during a transformative era.

Thomas is perhaps best known for introducing the iconic character Conan the Barbarian to American comics, a move that not only expanded the genre but also solidified his reputation as a visionary creator. His passion for the Golden Age of comics is evident in his work with classic heroes, particularly the Justice Society of America, and his extensive writing contributions to Marvel's X-Men and The Avengers, as well as DC Comics' All-Star Squadron and Infinity Inc.
