Rudolph A. Marcus, born on July twenty-first, nineteen twenty-three, is a distinguished chemist and university educator who has made significant contributions to the field of chemistry. A Canadian-born American, he is renowned for his groundbreaking work on the theory of electron transfer reactions in chemical systems, which earned him the prestigious Nobel Prize in Chemistry in nineteen ninety-two.

Marcus's innovative theory, aptly named Marcus theory, provides a comprehensive thermodynamic and kinetic framework for understanding one electron outer-sphere electron transfer.
