Ruhollah Zam, born on July twenty-seventh, nineteen seventy-eight, was a prominent Iranian journalist and essayist known for his fearless activism. He gained significant recognition for founding the Telegram channel Amadnews in two thousand fifteen, which became a vital platform for disseminating information and mobilizing public sentiment during the tumultuous period of the 2017–2018 Iranian protests.
During these protests, Zam played a crucial role by providing extensive coverage and analysis, which resonated with many Iranians seeking change. His efforts to highlight the grievances of the populace and challenge the government’s narrative made him a key figure in the movement.
However, his activism came at a great cost. In June two thousand twenty, an Iranian court convicted him of 'corruption on earth' for his involvement in running a popular anti-government forum. This charge was linked to his activities during the protests, which the authorities claimed incited unrest.
Ultimately, Zam was sentenced to death, and on December twelfth, two thousand twenty, he was executed, marking a tragic end to the life of a journalist who dared to speak out against oppression.
