Rui Maria de Araújo

Rui Maria de Araújo, born on May twenty-first, nineteen sixty-four, is a prominent East Timorese politician known for his significant contributions to the nation's governance. He served as the Prime Minister of East Timor from February sixteenth, two thousand fifteen, until his tenure concluded in two thousand seventeen. A member of the Fretilin party, Araújo has played a vital role in shaping the political landscape of East Timor.

Before ascending to the role of Prime Minister, Araújo held several key positions within the government. He was the Minister of Health from two thousand one to two thousand six, where he focused on improving healthcare services in the country. Following this, he served as Deputy Prime Minister from two thousand six to two thousand seven, further solidifying his influence in East Timorese politics.

His leadership as Prime Minister was marked by efforts to advance the nation’s development and address pressing issues facing East Timor.
