Rum Mehmed Pasha

Rum Mehmed Pasha, born in the year fifteen hundred, was a prominent Ottoman statesman who served as the grand vizier of the Ottoman Empire from fourteen sixty-six to fourteen sixty-nine. His tenure was marked by political rivalry, particularly with Mahmud Pasha Angelović, which defined much of his career.

Of Greek descent, Rum Mehmed Pasha's background played a significant role in his political journey within the Ottoman Empire. His rise to power was facilitated by his connections and the political landscape of the time, which was often fraught with intrigue and competition.

However, his fortunes changed dramatically in fourteen sixty-nine when, under the influence of Karamanlı Mehmet Pasha, Sultan Mehmed II the Conqueror dismissed him from his position. This dismissal was not merely a political setback; it culminated in a tragic end for Rum Mehmed Pasha, who was executed by drowning in fourteen seventy.
