Ruslan Khomchak

Ruslan Khomchak, born on June fifth, nineteen sixty-seven, is a distinguished Ukrainian Colonel-general with a notable career in military leadership. He currently serves as the First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, a position that underscores his significant role in the nation's defense strategy.

Before assuming his current role, Khomchak held the prestigious title of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. His tenure in this position began on May twenty-first, two thousand nineteen, during which he also served as the Chief of the General Staff until March twenty-eighth, two thousand twenty. This dual role was a testament to his leadership capabilities and strategic acumen.

On March twenty-eighth, two thousand twenty, a decree from President Volodymyr Zelensky restructured the military leadership, separating the roles of Commander-in-Chief and Chief of General Staff. As a result, Khomchak was appointed as the Chief Commander of the Armed Forces, while Serhiy Korniychuk took over as Chief of the General Staff.

However, on July twenty-seventh, two thousand twenty-one, Khomchak's journey took another turn when he was dismissed from his position as Commander-in-Chief. This transition led him to his current role as the First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, where he continues to influence Ukraine's military and security policies.
