Ruslan Salei, born on November second, nineteen seventy-four, was a talented Belarusian professional ice hockey player who made a significant impact in the National Hockey League (NHL). Over the course of his career, he played for several prominent teams, including the Detroit Red Wings, Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers, and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Salei was notably selected ninth overall in the 1996 NHL entry draft, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey in professional hockey.

The Yakovlev Yak-42 aircraft, carrying nearly the entire Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team, crashed near Yaroslavl, Russia, while en route to Minsk, Belarus, for the start of the 2011–12 KHL season. This devastating event shocked the hockey community and left a lasting impact on fans and players alike.
In recognition of his contributions to the sport, Ruslan Salei was posthumously inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in two thousand fourteen, ensuring that his legacy would continue to inspire future generations of hockey players.
