Russell W. "Russ" Howard, born on February 19, 1956, in Midland, Ontario, is a celebrated Canadian curler and Olympic champion. Although he now resides in Regina, Saskatchewan, he spent nearly two decades in Moncton, New Brunswick, from two thousand to two thousand nineteen. Known for his distinctive gravelly voice, Howard has made a significant mark in the curling world.
Throughout his illustrious career, Howard has participated in the Brier fourteen times, representing Ontario eight times and New Brunswick six times. He has claimed the Brier title twice, both times as a member of the Ontario team. His prowess on the ice is further highlighted by his achievements as a two-time world champion, securing victories in nineteen eighty-seven and nineteen ninety-three.
In addition to his world titles, Howard has triumphed in the TSN Skins Game, winning three consecutive times in nineteen ninety-one, nineteen ninety-two, and nineteen ninety-three. He also showcased his skills in the Canadian Mixed Curling Championships in two thousand and two thousand one.
