Russell Bentley, born on June twentieth, nineteen sixty, is a multifaceted figure known for his controversial roles as a military personnel, war correspondent, and propagandist. Initially a pro-Russian combatant in the Donbas conflict, he later transitioned into a YouTuber, where he shared his experiences until his channel was deleted in early twenty twenty-two. His work as a war correspondent for the Russian state-owned Sputnik news agency further solidified his position as a prominent voice in the pro-Russian narrative during the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Before his involvement in the Donbas, Bentley was an activist for marijuana legalization and even ran for a seat in the U.S. Senate. His past, however, is marred by a conviction for drug trafficking, which led to a five-year prison sentence and several years as a fugitive. In late twenty fourteen, he relocated to Donbas, where he eventually became a naturalized Russian citizen in twenty twenty.

Known as the 'Donbas Cowboy,' Bentley described himself as an 'information warrior,' advocating for the Donetsk People's Republic and pro-Russian sentiments.
