Russell Latapy

Russell Latapy, born on August second, nineteen sixty-eight, is a distinguished Trinidadian former professional footballer who made his mark as an attacking midfielder. With a career that spanned over two decades, Latapy showcased his exceptional skills on both club and international stages.

His professional journey took him across various countries, spending eight years in Portugal where he played for three clubs, most notably FC Porto. He then transitioned to Scotland, where he enjoyed an impressive eleven-season tenure with four teams, including Hibernian, Rangers, Dundee United, and Falkirk.

Latapy's contributions to the Trinidad and Tobago national team are noteworthy, as he earned eighty-one caps and was a vital member of the squad that competed in the 2006 FIFA World Cup held in Germany. His remarkable achievements were recognized when he was awarded the Chaconia Medal (Gold Class), the second highest state decoration in Trinidad and Tobago.
