Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, born on March 15, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, was a pioneering American lawyer and jurist who made history as the second woman and the first Jewish woman to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States. Appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1993, she held her position until her passing in 2020, becoming a symbol of resilience and advocacy for gender equality and women's rights.

Ginsburg's early life was marked by personal tragedy, losing her older sister to meningitis and her mother shortly before high school graduation. Despite these challenges, she excelled academically, earning her bachelor's degree from Cornell University. She later attended Harvard Law School, where she was one of the few women in her class, before transferring to Columbia Law School, where she graduated joint first in her class.

Throughout her career, Ginsburg was a formidable advocate for gender equality, winning significant cases before the Supreme Court. Her tenure included authoring landmark opinions in cases such as United States v. Virginia and Olmstead v. L.C.
