Ruud Gullit

Ruud Gullit, born on September 1, 1962, is a distinguished former Dutch footballer and manager, celebrated for his versatility on the pitch. His career took a significant turn in 1987 when he transferred from PSV Eindhoven to AC Milan for a world record transfer fee, marking the beginning of an illustrious chapter in his life.

At AC Milan, Gullit formed a formidable trio alongside Marco van Basten and Frank Rijkaard, earning the nickname 'The Black Tulip.' His tenure with the club was marked by remarkable success, including three Serie A titles and two European Cups, solidifying his status as one of the greats in football history.

In 1995, Gullit made a move to Chelsea, where he not only played but also took on the role of player-manager a year later. His leadership led Chelsea to their first major title in twenty-six years, the FA Cup, making him the first overseas manager to achieve this feat.

On the international stage, Gullit captained the Netherlands national team to victory at UEFA Euro 1988 and participated in the 1990 FIFA World Cup and Euro 1992. His individual accolades include winning the Ballon d'Or in 1987 and being named World Soccer Player of the Year in both 1987 and 1989. In 2004, he was honored as one of the Top 125 greatest living footballers during FIFA's centenary celebrations.
