Ryan Larkin

Ryan Larkin, born on July thirty-first, nineteen forty-three, was a distinguished Canadian animator, film director, producer, sculptor, and visual artist. He gained prominence with his Oscar-nominated short film, Walking, released in nineteen sixty-eight, and further solidified his reputation with the acclaimed Street Musique in nineteen seventy-two. Larkin's innovative approach to animation and his unique artistic vision earned him a place in the spotlight, culminating in his portrayal in the Oscar-winning documentary Ryan.

Hailing from Dorval, a quaint suburb of Montreal, Larkin was the middle child in a family of three siblings. His father worked as an airplane mechanic, while his mother was a secretary. This nurturing environment fostered his artistic talents from a young age, allowing him to explore various forms of expression.

Renowned for his exceptional ability to capture and replicate human movement, Larkin's work stood out in the animation industry. Rather than relying on traditional rotoscoping techniques, he dedicated himself to self-study and utilized references to enhance the authenticity of his animations.
