Ryan Shotton, born on October 30, 1988, is an accomplished English professional footballer and manager, recognized for his role as a defender. He has recently taken on the position of player-manager at Hanley Town, a club competing in the Northern Premier League Division One West.

Shotton's football journey began at the Stoke City Academy, where he honed his skills before signing a professional contract in two thousand and seven. To gain valuable first-team experience, he embarked on loan spells with Altrincham, Tranmere Rovers, and Barnsley, gradually making his mark in the sport.

His breakthrough came towards the end of the 2010–11 season when he secured a place in the Stoke squad. Notably, he showcased his talent on an international stage by scoring against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the UEFA Europa League during the 2011–12 season. In September two thousand thirteen, Shotton joined Wigan Athletic on loan, followed by a loan move to Derby County in August two thousand fourteen, which later turned into a permanent transfer in January two thousand fifteen.

In two thousand sixteen, he had a brief stint on loan at Birmingham City before signing with them permanently in June of that year. His career continued to flourish as he moved to Middlesbrough in August two thousand seventeen, where he spent three seasons.
