S. Epatha Merkerson

S. Epatha Merkerson, born Sharon Epatha Merkerson on November 28, 1952, is a distinguished American actress celebrated for her versatile performances across stage, television, and film. With a career spanning several decades, she has garnered numerous accolades, including an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award, showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft.

Merkerson is perhaps best known for her iconic role as NYPD Lieutenant Anita Van Buren on the acclaimed NBC police procedural drama series Law & Order.
