Coming from a Telugu family with a rich musical heritage, Balasubrahmanyam initially embarked on a path toward engineering. However, his deep-seated passion for music ultimately led him to a remarkable career in playback singing, which began with his debut in the Telugu film 'Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna' in nineteen sixty-six, under the guidance of his mentor, S. P. Kodandapani.
Over the span of his illustrious career, Balasubrahmanyam became a household name, revered as one of the greatest Indian singers of all time. In addition to his singing prowess, Balasubrahmanyam was a versatile artist, engaging in television presenting, acting, music composition, and dubbing. His record-setting achievements included recording twenty-eight songs in Kannada in a single day, along with nineteen in Tamil and sixteen in Hindi, showcasing his unparalleled work ethic and dedication to his craft.
