Saad Al-Salim Al-Sabah, born on May 13, 1930, served as the Emir of Kuwait for a brief period in January 2006, following the reign of Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. His tenure as Emir was notably short, lasting only nine days until his abdication on January 24, 2006.
Before ascending to the position of Emir, Saad had a distinguished career in politics, having been the Prime Minister of Kuwait from 1978 until 2006. His leadership during this time was marked by significant developments in the country's governance and political landscape.
In addition to his political roles, Saad Al-Salim Al-Sabah held a prominent position in the military, serving as the general commander of the Military of Kuwait. He was also the first individual to lead the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, a role he maintained until February 16, 1978. Furthermore, he made history as the first military officer to head the Ministry of Defense since 1964, showcasing his multifaceted contributions to the nation.
