Sadakazu Tanigaki

Sadakazu Tanigaki, born on March seventh, nineteen forty-five, is a distinguished Japanese politician and lawyer whose career spanned over three decades. He was a prominent member of the House of Representatives from nineteen eighty-three until two thousand seventeen, showcasing his enduring influence in Japanese politics.

During his tenure, Tanigaki held several key positions, including Minister of Finance from two thousand three to two thousand six. His leadership skills were further recognized when he served as President of the Liberal Democratic Party and Leader of the Opposition from two thousand nine to two thousand twelve.

In addition to his role as Minister of Finance, he also served as Minister of Justice from two thousand twelve to two thousand fourteen and as LDP Secretary-General from two thousand fourteen to two thousand sixteen. Notably, he was only the second leader of the LDP who did not simultaneously hold the office of Prime Minister of Japan.

Tanigaki's political journey came to an unexpected halt in two thousand sixteen due to a spinal cord injury that required him to use a wheelchair. Despite this setback, his contributions to Japanese politics remain significant and impactful.
