Said Nursi

Said Nursi, also known as Said-i Kurdî, was a prominent Kurdish scholar of Islam born in 1877 in Turkey. He is best remembered for his monumental work, the Risale-i Nur Collection, which encompasses over six thousand pages of Qur'anic commentary. Nursi's writings emphasize the importance of reviving personal Islamic faith through study, self-reform, and service to others.

In his pursuit of knowledge, Nursi recognized the significance of modern science and logic, advocating for the integration of religious sciences in secular schools and modern sciences in religious institutions. His innovative approach earned him the honorific titles Bediüzzaman, meaning 'wonder of the age,' and Üstad, meaning 'teacher,' among his devoted followers.

Nursi's influence extended beyond his writings, inspiring a religious movement that has played a crucial role in the revival of Islam in Turkey. Today, the Nurcu movement boasts millions of adherents worldwide, with estimates ranging from five to six million. The movement is supported by approximately five thousand five hundred dershanes, where followers gather to study Nursi's teachings.

Initially engaged in political activities to promote Islam, Nursi shifted his focus to writing after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. His dedication to Islamic scholarship and education has left a lasting legacy, shaping the beliefs and practices of countless individuals across the globe.
