Saida Gunba

Saida Gunba, born on August 30, 1959, is a distinguished former Soviet javelin thrower who made her mark in the world of athletics. Affiliated with Burevestnik Tbilisi, she showcased her exceptional talent on the international stage.

Gunba's most notable achievement came during the 1980 Summer Olympics held in Moscow, where she competed fiercely and secured a silver medal in the women's javelin event. This remarkable performance solidified her status as one of the top athletes of her time.

In addition to her Olympic success, Gunba also demonstrated her prowess at the 1979 IAAF World Cup, finishing in fifth place. Her personal best throw of 68.28 metres, achieved in 1980 with the old javelin type, remains a testament to her skill and dedication to the sport.
