Saitō Dōsan

Saitō Dōsan, born in 1494, was a formidable samurai known for his ruthless tactics and strategic acumen. His rise to power was marked by his appointment as Governor of Yamashiro by the Imperial Court, a position that underscored his influence and ambition in the tumultuous landscape of feudal Japan.

Throughout his career, Dōsan earned a notorious reputation, being recognized as one of Japan's Three Great Villains. This title, shared with the infamous Matsunaga Hisahide and Ukita Naoie, reflected their shared penchant for treachery and cunning. Dōsan's methods often involved underhanded tactics and assassinations, which he employed to eliminate rivals and secure his position.

In his later years, Dōsan entered monkhood, adopting the name Saitō Yamashiro-nyudō-no-kami. This transition marked a significant shift in his life, as he sought a path of reflection and spirituality after a lifetime of conflict and ambition.
