Salim Idris, born in January nineteen fifty-seven, is a prominent Syrian military officer and former rebel leader who played a significant role during the Syrian Civil War. He served as the minister of defense for the Syrian Interim Government and was the chief of staff of the Supreme Military Council (SMC) of the Syrian National Army, a key faction within the Syrian opposition.
Idris holds a PhD in electrical engineering and is proficient in five languages, including English. His academic background includes training as an electronics professor in East Germany, which complements his military expertise.
