Sam Phillips

Sam Phillips, born on January fifth, nineteen twenty-three, was a pioneering American entrepreneur, record producer, and songwriter. He is best known for founding Sun Records and Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, which became the birthplace of rock and roll. His innovative approach to music production led to the emergence of iconic artists such as Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Howlin' Wolf.

During the vibrant era of the 1950s, Phillips played a crucial role in shaping the sound of rock and roll, most notably launching the career of Elvis Presley, who would go on to become a cultural phenomenon. His keen ear for talent and dedication to music helped to redefine the industry and influence generations of musicians.

In addition to his contributions to music, Phillips was also an owner and operator of several radio stations across Memphis, Florence, Alabama, and Lake Worth Beach, Florida.
