Samantha Nutt

Samantha Nutt, born on October first, nineteen sixty-nine, is a distinguished Canadian physician and philanthropist renowned for her unwavering commitment to humanitarian efforts in war-torn regions. As the founder and president of War Child Canada, she has dedicated over sixteen years to providing critical assistance to those affected by conflict, particularly women and children.

Her impactful work is encapsulated in her book, Damned Nations: Greed, Guns, Armies and Aid, published in two thousand eleven, which chronicles her experiences over fifteen years in some of the world's most devastated areas. Nutt's extensive fieldwork includes frontline engagements in countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Darfur, South Sudan, Burundi, northern Uganda, Ethiopia, and the Thai-Burmese border.

In addition to her humanitarian efforts, Nutt serves on the staff at Women's College Hospital in Toronto and holds the position of assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto.
