Sami Jo Small

Sami Jo Small, born on March 25, 1976, is a retired Canadian ice hockey goaltender who has made significant contributions to women's hockey. As a dedicated member of the Canadian national team, she achieved remarkable success, earning an Olympic gold medal and four World Championship medals throughout her illustrious career.

Beyond her accomplishments on the ice, Small played a pivotal role in the development of women's hockey in Canada. She was one of the founders of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL), where she not only competed for ten seasons but also served as vice-chair during the league's inaugural season, showcasing her leadership and commitment to the sport.

In addition to her playing career, Small took on the role of team president for the Toronto Six, further solidifying her influence in the hockey community. Unfortunately, the Premier Hockey Federation ceased operations in 2023, marking the end of an era for the league and its teams.
