Samir Geagea, born on October twenty-fifth, nineteen fifty-two, is a prominent Lebanese politician and former militia commander. He has been at the helm of the Lebanese Forces political party since nineteen eighty-six, a role that has defined much of his political career. Geagea's early political involvement began in Ain al-Remaneh, where he joined the nationalist Kataeb Party, eventually leading the Northern Front within the Lebanese Forces from nineteen seventy-nine to nineteen eighty-four.
In March nineteen eighty-five, following the assassination of Lebanese Forces leader Bachir Gemayel, Geagea played a crucial role in stabilizing the Christian political landscape alongside Elie Hobeika and Karim Pakradouni. His leadership culminated in a coup on January fifteenth, nineteen eighty-six, which saw him take command of the Lebanese Forces after the ousting of Hobeika, who had been a signatory of a tripartite agreement backed by Syria.
