Samson Siasia

Samson Siasia, born on August fourteenth, nineteen sixty-seven, is a distinguished Nigerian former professional football striker and a notable football coach. His career in football has spanned several decades, during which he made significant contributions both on and off the pitch.

As a player, Siasia showcased his talents as a striker, earning recognition for his skills and dedication to the sport. Following his playing career, he transitioned into coaching, taking the helm of the Nigeria national team from two thousand ten until October two thousand eleven. His leadership was once again called upon in two thousand sixteen when he was reappointed as head coach.

However, Siasia's career faced a significant setback when, on August sixteenth, two thousand nineteen, FIFA imposed a lifetime ban on him from all football activities due to a match-fixing investigation. This ban was later reduced to five years. The adjudicatory chamber of FIFA’s independent Ethics Committee revealed that Siasia had accepted bribes related to match manipulation, a serious violation of the FIFA Code of Ethics.
