Samuel Umtiti

Samuel Umtiti, born on November 14, 1993, in Cameroon, is a distinguished former professional footballer renowned for his role as a centre-back. His journey in football began with Olympique Lyonnais in 2012, where he quickly made a name for himself by winning both the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions in his debut season. Over the course of his tenure at Lyon, Umtiti made a total of 170 appearances, scoring three goals.

In 2016, Umtiti's talent caught the attention of La Liga giants Barcelona, leading to a transfer valued at twenty-five million euros. During his time with Barcelona, he contributed to the team's success, securing three Copa del Rey titles and two league championships. After a season-long loan at Lecce in Italy, he returned to France in 2023, joining Lille, where he ultimately decided to retire from professional football in 2025.

Umtiti's international career is equally impressive. He earned forty-seven caps and netted three goals at youth level, notably winning the 2013 U-20 World Cup.
