Sancho of Majorca

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Sancho of Majorca

Sancho of Majorca, known as Sanç in Catalan, was born in the year 1274 and ascended to the throne as King of Majorca in 1311. His reign, which lasted until his death on the fourth of September in 1324, was characterized by an unusual tranquility, earning him the moniker 'the Pacific' or 'the Peaceful'.

Unlike his father, James II, and his nephew, James III, whose reigns were marked by strife and challenges, Sancho's rule was notably undisturbed. This stability allowed him to focus on governance and the welfare of his realm, contrasting sharply with the tumultuous periods that surrounded his lineage.

As the Count of Roussillon and Cerdanya, as well as the Lord of Montpellier, Sancho's influence extended beyond Majorca. His leadership style and the peace he maintained during his thirteen years on the throne left a lasting legacy in the region.
