Santiago Santamaría

Santiago Santamaría, born on August 22, 1952, was an Argentine professional footballer renowned for his skills as a winger. His career spanned several notable clubs, including Newell's Old Boys, where he made a significant impact during two tenures from 1971 to 1974 and again from 1980 to 1983. He also played for Stade de Reims from 1974 to 1979 and concluded his club career with Talleres de Córdoba in 1984.

During his time at Newell's Old Boys, Santamaría established himself as a prolific scorer, ranking second among the club's all-time top scorers with an impressive ninety goals. His contributions to the team were pivotal, and he remains a celebrated figure in the club's history.

On the international stage, Santamaría represented Argentina in the 1982 FIFA World Cup, showcasing his talent on a global platform. After retiring from professional football, he settled in Córdoba, where he continued to be involved in the sport as a coach.
