Sarah Frances Whiting

Sarah Frances Whiting, born on August twenty-third, eighteen forty-seven, was a pioneering American physicist and astronomer. Her remarkable career began to take shape in February eighteen ninety-six when she established both the physics and astronomy departments at Wellesley College. This significant achievement marked her as the first professor of these disciplines at the institution, where she dedicated over thirty years of her life to education and research.

Throughout her tenure at Wellesley College, Whiting played a crucial role in shaping the future of many aspiring scientists.
