Sarah Moore Grimké

Sarah Moore Grimké, born on November twenty-sixth, seventeen ninety-two, emerged as a pivotal figure in the American abolitionist and feminist movements. Raised in a prominent planter family in South Carolina, she experienced the stark realities of slavery firsthand, which profoundly shaped her worldview and activism.

In the 1820s, Grimké relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she embraced the Quaker faith alongside her younger sister, Angelina.
