Sari Essayah

Sari Essayah, born on February twenty-first, nineteen sixty-seven, is a distinguished Finnish politician and retired racewalker. She has made significant contributions to both the political and athletic arenas, serving as a Member of the European Parliament and a Member of Parliament since two thousand fifteen. Currently, she holds the esteemed position of Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, a role she has embraced since two thousand twenty-three.

In her athletic career, Essayah specialized in racewalking events, particularly excelling in the five and ten-kilometer distances. Her remarkable talent was showcased when she clinched the World Championship title in nineteen ninety-three and followed it up with a European Championship victory in nineteen ninety-four. Throughout her career, she set seven national records in racewalking, all of which remain unbroken to this day.
