Satam al-Suqami, born on June twenty-eighth, nineteen seventy-six, was a Saudi national who became infamously known as one of the hijackers involved in the September eleventh attacks in two thousand one. His journey into extremism began around nineteen ninety-nine when he was recruited into al-Qaeda, alongside his friend Majed Moqed, who would also become a hijacker on a separate flight.
In pursuit of his radical beliefs, al-Suqami traveled to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, where he was selected to participate in the coordinated attacks that would forever change the course of history. He arrived in the United States in April two thousand one, just months before the tragic events that would unfold.
On the fateful day of September eleventh, al-Suqami boarded American Airlines Flight eleven, taking part in the hijacking that aimed to crash the plane into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. During the course of the hijacking, he is believed to have committed the first act of violence by killing passenger Daniel Lewin.
Tragically, al-Suqami met his end along with all others aboard the flight when the plane struck the North Tower, marking a devastating moment in history that resulted in the loss of thousands of lives.
