Satsvarupa dasa Goswami

Satsvarupa dasa Goswami, born Stephen Guarino on December 6, 1939, is a prominent figure in the Hare Krishna movement, officially known as the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). As a senior disciple of Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, he has played a pivotal role in the dissemination of Vaishnava teachings and culture in the West.

With a diverse portfolio as a poet, novelist, writer, painter, and theologian, Satsvarupa dasa Goswami has made significant contributions to spiritual literature. He is best known for authoring the authorized biography of his spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada-lilamrta, which chronicles the life and teachings of Bhaktivedanta Swami.

In September 1966, Satsvarupa dasa Goswami became one of the first Westerners to be ordained by Bhaktivedanta Swami, marking a significant milestone in his spiritual journey. Following the passing of his guru, he was entrusted with the responsibility of initiating future disciples, becoming one of the eleven selected to carry on this sacred tradition.

Throughout his career, Satsvarupa dasa Goswami has published over one hundred works, including poems, memoirs, essays, novels, and scholarly studies based on Vaishnava scriptures. His literary contributions continue to inspire and educate followers of the movement and those interested in spiritual literature.
