Scott Morrison

Scott Morrison, born on May thirteenth, nineteen sixty-eight, is a notable Australian former politician who served as the thirtieth prime minister of Australia and led the Liberal Party from two thousand eighteen to two thousand twenty-two. His political career began when he was elected as the member of parliament for the New South Wales division of Cook in two thousand seven, a position he held until two thousand twenty-four.

Raised in Sydney, Morrison pursued a degree in economic geography at the University of New South Wales. His professional journey included significant roles such as the director of the New Zealand Office of Tourism and Sport from nineteen ninety-eight to two thousand, and managing director of Tourism Australia from two thousand four to two thousand six. He also served as the state director of the New South Wales Liberal Party from two thousand to two thousand four.

After the Liberal-National coalition's victory in the two thousand thirteen election, Morrison was appointed Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, where he implemented Operation Sovereign Borders. His political ascent continued as he transitioned to Minister for Social Services and later became Treasurer in September two thousand fifteen. In August two thousand eighteen, he emerged as a compromise candidate for the Liberal Party leadership, defeating Peter Dutton and Julie Bishop to become prime minister.

During his tenure, Morrison led the Coalition to a surprising victory in the two thousand nineteen election, overseeing significant policies such as the stage three tax cuts and the establishment of the National Cabinet in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
