Scott Parker, born on October 13, 1980, is an accomplished English football manager and former player, currently leading Premier League club Burnley as head coach. His football journey began at Charlton Athletic, where he was loaned to Norwich City before making a significant move to Chelsea for a transfer fee of ten million pounds in January 2004. Although his time at Chelsea was marked by limited playing opportunities, he soon found his footing at Newcastle United, where he was appointed captain.
In 2007, Parker joined West Ham United, where he showcased his talent and was honored as the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year for the 2010–11 season, despite the club's relegation. His career continued with stints at Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham, where he made a notable impact, playing one hundred and nineteen league matches across both the Premier League and the Championship before retiring at the conclusion of the 2016–17 season.
Parker's international career with England saw him represent the nation at every level from under-16 to senior, making his full debut in 2003. Remarkably, he earned his first four England caps while playing for four different clubs and was part of the squad that reached the quarter-finals of UEFA Euro 2012.
Transitioning into management, Parker was appointed caretaker manager of Fulham in February 2019, later securing a permanent position that summer. He successfully guided the team to promotion to the Premier League after winning the Championship play-offs in his first season, although they faced relegation the following year. In 2021, he took the helm at Bournemouth, achieving promotion from the Championship once again. However, after a heavy defeat to Liverpool, he was dismissed. His next role was with Club Brugge, where he was sacked after twelve games in March 2023. In July 2024, Parker returned to the Premier League as the head coach of Burnley, leading them to promotion in his inaugural season.
