Sebastian Francis

Born on November eleventh, nineteen fifty-one, Sebastian Francis has dedicated his life to the service of the Catholic Church. As a prominent Malaysian Catholic prelate, he has made significant contributions to the spiritual and community life of his region.

Since two thousand eleven, he has held the esteemed position of Bishop of Penang, where he has been instrumental in fostering a vibrant Catholic community. In recognition of his exemplary service, Pope Francis elevated him to the rank of cardinal in two thousand twenty-three, making him the second cardinal from Malaysia, following in the footsteps of Anthony Soter Fernandez. This honor underscores his influence and dedication within the Church.
