Sebastião Lazaroni

Sebastião Lazaroni, born on September twenty-fifth, nineteen fifty, in Muriaé, Minas Gerais, is a notable Brazilian football manager and former player. He is particularly recognized for his innovative approach to the game, notably his attempt to introduce the libero position into Brazilian football. This ambition was most evident during the nineteen ninety FIFA World Cup, where he employed a three-five-two formation. Unfortunately, this strategy did not yield the desired results, leading to Brazil's elimination in the second round by Argentina.

As the head coach of the Brazil national team, Lazaroni's tenure included thirty-five matches, resulting in twenty-one victories, seven draws, and seven losses. His coaching prowess was instrumental in Brazil's triumph at the South American Championship in nineteen eighty-nine, marking the team's first Copa América title in thirty-nine years. His legacy also includes a significant achievement with Turkish club Fenerbahçe, where he led the team to end Manchester United's forty-year undefeated European home record in a UEFA Champions League match in nineteen ninety-six.

Lazaroni's coaching journey continued as he took over the Qatar national team on August first, two thousand eleven, succeeding Milovan Rajevac. However, his time with the team was short-lived, as he was dismissed four months later due to unsatisfactory performances, particularly after failing to advance past the group stage of the two thousand eleven Pan Arab Games, which Qatar hosted.
