Šefik Džaferović, born on September ninth, nineteen fifty-seven, is a prominent Bosnian politician known for his significant contributions to the political landscape of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He served as the seventh Bosniak member of the Presidency from two thousand eighteen to two thousand twenty-two, a role he assumed after a closely contested election.
A member of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), Džaferović has held various leadership positions within the party, including vice president and general secretary. His political journey began after he graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Sarajevo in nineteen seventy-nine, followed by a career in judicial institutions before entering the political arena.
Džaferović joined the SDA shortly after its formation in nineteen ninety and quickly rose through the ranks. He was appointed to the Federal House of Peoples in nineteen ninety-six and became a member of the national House of Peoples in two thousand one. His political career continued to flourish as he was elected to the national House of Representatives in the two thousand two general election, serving until two thousand eighteen.
After his term in the Presidency, Džaferović chose not to seek re-election in the two thousand twenty-two general election. Instead, he returned to the national House of Peoples in February two thousand twenty-three, continuing his commitment to serve the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
