Şehzade Ertuğrul Osman

Şehzade Ertuğrul Osman Efendi, born on 18 August 1912, was a prominent figure in the history of the Ottoman Empire, serving as the last prince of the dynasty. He held the esteemed title of the 43rd Head of the Imperial House of Osman from 1994 until his passing on 23 September 2009. His life spanned a significant period of change, witnessing the transition from monarchy to republic in Turkey.

Before the abolition of the monarchy on 1 November 1922, he was addressed with the honorific 'His Imperial Highness,' reflecting his royal status. Known as Osman Ertuğrul Osmanoğlu in the modern context, he became a symbol of the Ottoman legacy, often referred to as 'the last Ottoman' in Turkey.
