Seleucus II Callinicus, known as Pogon, which translates to 'the Beard', was a prominent figure in the Hellenistic world. Born in July or August of two hundred sixty-five BC, he ascended to the throne of the Seleucid Empire in two hundred forty-six BC. His reign, however, was marked by significant challenges and strife.
