Serapio Calderón

Serapio Calderón, born in Paucartambo, Cusco Region, on September fourteenth, eighteen forty-three, was a prominent figure in Peruvian politics and law. His career spanned various roles, including that of a lawyer and university teacher, showcasing his commitment to education and governance.

In nineteen hundred and three, Calderón was elected as the second vice president under Manuel Candamo. Following the untimely death of Candamo, he ascended to the presidency on May seventh, nineteen hundred and four, serving as the Interim President of Peru and officially as the President of the Government Junta.

During his brief tenure, which lasted until September twenty-fourth, nineteen hundred and four, Calderón called for elections, leading to the victory of José Pardo y Barreda from the Civilista Party. His leadership was marked by a dedication to democratic processes, even in the face of personal loss.

Calderón's life came to a close in April nineteen twenty-two in Cusco, leaving behind a legacy intertwined with the political evolution of Peru during a transformative era.
