Serge Lang

Serge Lang, born on May nineteenth, nineteen twenty-seven, was a prominent French-American mathematician and university educator, best known for his extensive contributions to number theory and his influential mathematics textbooks, particularly the widely acclaimed 'Algebra'. His academic career was largely spent at Yale University, where he inspired countless students and colleagues with his passion for mathematics.

He took a firm stand against the Vietnam War and played a significant role in opposing the nomination of political scientist Samuel P. Huntington to the National Academies of Science.
