Serge Vohor

Serge Vohor, born on April 23, 1955, is a prominent Vanuatuan diplomat and politician known for his significant contributions to the political landscape of Vanuatu. Hailing from Port Olry on the largest island, Espiritu Santo, Vohor has been a key figure in the Union of Moderate Parties, a centrist political party, until 2022.

His political career is marked by multiple tenures as Prime Minister, serving four times between December 1995 and May 2011. His first appointment as foreign minister came in 1991 when his party ascended to power, a role he held for the first of three terms until 1993. Vohor's leadership was characterized by both achievements and controversies, including a brief term in 2011 that was later deemed unconstitutional by the Court of Appeal.

In October 2015, Vohor faced legal challenges when he was convicted of bribery by the Vanuatu Supreme Court, resulting in a three-year prison sentence. At the time of his conviction, he was serving as Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Kilman government, highlighting the complexities of his political journey.
