Sergei Polunin

Sergei Polunin, born on November twentieth, nineteen eighty-nine, in Kherson, Ukrainian SSR, is a distinguished ballet dancer, actor, and model. With dual Russian and Serbian citizenships, he has always identified as Russian. In twenty twenty-five, he was stripped of his Ukrainian citizenship, marking a significant moment in his life.

Polunin's journey in the world of dance began at the tender age of eight when he transitioned from gymnastics to ballet. He honed his skills at the Kyiv State Choreographic College before joining the prestigious British Royal Ballet School at thirteen in two thousand three. His talent quickly became evident, earning him accolades such as the Prix de Lausanne and the Youth America Grand Prix in two thousand six, and he was named the Young British Dancer of the Year in two thousand seven.

At just twenty years old, Polunin made history by becoming the youngest male principal dancer at the Royal Ballet. However, after two years, he chose to leave the company to pursue a freelance career, allowing him to showcase his artistry on a global stage. As a guest artist, he has graced the stages of renowned theatres, including the Royal Opera House, Sadler's Wells Theatre, Bolshoi Theatre, and La Scala Theatre, among others.
