Sergio Asenjo

Sergio Asenjo, born on June 28, 1989, is a former professional footballer from Spain, renowned for his role as a goalkeeper. He began his football journey with Real Valladolid in 2007, where he made an impressive forty-seven senior appearances during his initial spell with the club.

In the summer of 2009, Asenjo transferred to Atlético Madrid, embarking on a five-season tenure with the team. His time at Atlético was marked by loan spells at Málaga and Villarreal, where he eventually signed a permanent contract in 2014. Unfortunately, his career was significantly impacted by a series of knee injuries, which hindered his progress on the field.

On the international stage, Asenjo represented Spain, earning a single cap for the senior national team in 2016. His contributions to the national side also included participation at various youth levels, showcasing his talent from an early age.
